Words with Friends 2 — Game Modes
Classic
Standard WWF game. Same rules as WWF1 — 7-tile rack, 15×15 board, ENABLE word list.
Lightning Round
Fast-paced timed variant. Same dictionary and tile values — speed matters more than optimal plays.
Solo Challenge
Play against AI puzzles. Knowing high-value words is critical since the AI plays near-optimally.
Team Mode
Collaborative play with a partner. Communication about which words to use matters alongside tile knowledge.
WWF vs WWF2 — What Actually Changed?
Nothing changed for gameplay strategy. The dictionary (ENABLE), tile values, rack size (7), board size (15×15), and bonus square layout are all identical between WWF and WWF2.
What changed: the app UI, matchmaking, social features, additional game modes (Lightning, Solo Challenge, Team), and Zynga's monetisation model. If a word was valid in the original WWF, it is valid in WWF2 — and vice versa.
This means any ENABLE-based tool works equally well for both versions. No separate WWF2 word list exists — they share the same dictionary.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Words with Friends 2 different from the original?+
Words with Friends 2 (WWF2) is the current updated version of the game by Zynga. It uses the same ENABLE word list and the same tile point values as the original. The main differences are UI updates, new game modes (Solo, Lightning Round, Team), and more social features — not the dictionary or scoring.
Does this tool work for Words with Friends 2?+
Yes. WWF2 uses the ENABLE dictionary and the same tile values as WWF1. This tool uses both, so all results are valid in Words with Friends 2.
What tile values does WWF2 use?+
Same as WWF1: A=1, B=4, C=4, D=2, E=1, F=4, G=3, H=3, I=1, J=10, K=5, L=2, M=4, N=2, O=1, P=4, Q=10, R=1, S=1, T=1, U=2, V=5, W=4, X=8, Y=3, Z=10. Note: these differ from standard Scrabble tile values.
Does WWF2 have different word rules?+
No. Both versions use ENABLE and exclude proper nouns, abbreviations, and hyphenated words. A word valid in WWF1 is valid in WWF2 and vice versa.
How do I use a blank tile in WWF2?+
Type ? for each blank tile. Blanks score 0 points in WWF2, exactly as in WWF1. The tool accounts for this when calculating word scores.
